The Japanese SHERLOCK Manga comes to the USA and UK for the first time ever! Adapting the episodes of the smash-hit BBC America/Hartswood Films TV show that sees Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman) tackling brain-teasing crimes in modern-day London, this stunning manga is presented in its original right-to-left reading order, and in the full chapters as originally serialised. Each oversized issue comes with a selection of BRAND-NEW covers by some of the best Sherlock artists around! #1 kicks things off with a 52pp special. Meet Sherlock and Watson for the first time… all over again!
First of all, let me preface this by saying I absolutely love this show and most especially my lovely Bendict Cumberbatch (I think he’s hot lol). So obviously, upon seeing this from my library’s catalog, I immediately put a hold on it and picked it up. The artwork is gorgeous and the likeness of the art to the actors are on point and it made the reading experience much more enjoyable. This first volume is based on the first episode of the TV show so if you haven’t watched the series yet and don’t want to get spoiled I’d suggest not to read this. It doesn’t stray from the story at all so there will definitely be spoilers. Being me though, I already forgot the episodes so it felt like I was reading a new story until the end when it all started flooding back to me.
I gave this one a hefty five-stars! It was really enjoyable, the character facial expressions were fantastic and has made me laugh out loud several times. I definitely recommend it especially if you are new to mangas because this isn’t as Japanese in the sense that this was directly from the show and feels very western. Plus, it’s Sherlock Holmes, what more can you ask?
How are you guys doing this week so far? Life is getting a bit drag-y for me and I’m not too excited about it but hopefully it’ll sort itself out in time. Have you watched the TV show? How’d you like it?
