Hey hey hey! This is a day late but I honestly haven’t had the best past few weeks because of the awesome weather here in my city, Calgary. The temperature has been flipping between -41.0C (-41.6F) to 11.0C (51.8F) and it caused tons of headaches and sinus pain. But anyways, this will be all about the books I’ve read the past month and other things I’ve enjoyed as well besides dead trees.

Books I read:

  1. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
  2. Flying Witch Vol. 1 by Chihiro Ishizuka
  3. Jim Henson’s The Power of the Dark Crystal by Simon Spurrier
  4. An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson
  5. The X-Files: Earth Children Are Weird by Kim Smith
  6. Rebellious heart by Jody Hedlund
  7. The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking
  8. Witch Doctor, Vol. 1: Under the Knife by Brandon Seifert
  9. The Rules of Magic by Brandon Seifert
  10. Judah’s Wife: A Novel of the Maccabees by Angela Hunt
  11. Saga Vol. 6 by Brian K. Vaughan
  12. Paper Girls, Vol. 2 by Brian K. Vaughan

Okay, I didn’t realize I read 12 things this month despite the icky feelings and busy schedules. 50/50 novels versus graphic novels would be the final tally. Yay though! now onto making sure I actually post the reviews.

As of today I am in the middle of reading four books:

  • A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas
  • Nevernight by Jay Kristoff
  • Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger
  • The Year of the Knife by G. D. Penman

I’m hoping to finish at least two of these four by the end of the week! Cross fingers xx

Other things I’ve enjoyed:

Podcast – I’ve been into this podcast called 2 Dope Queens and so far I’ve listened to the first ten of their 72 episodes. It’s just witty and funny and it feels like listening to your BFFs just talking about funny stories about life, love, sex and other weird circumstances.

Youtube – I have this thing where I love watching all of the videos of every booktuber I’m subscribed to and I’m currently working on Elena from Elena Reads Books‘ backlog and I think I only have 13 more videos to watch before I’m finally caught up.

TV Shows – I haven’t been watching a lot of shows this month but I still managed to catch 12 episodes of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit Season.. 2. Well, is that little? Is 12 episodes still a lot? Hahaha

K-Dramas – I’ve always been in love with Korean dramas and K-pop but I haven’t had much time for them lately because… life. I’m back though! I binge watched this drama called I Am Not a Robot and it was the most fun Saturday I’ve had in a while. This ain’t a Korean dramas but I’m also watching this chinese drama called Nirvana in Fire and so far it’s full of awesome lore and fight scenes and political intrigue. Ahhh so exciting.

How I did on my goals:

Journal at least 5x a week: I am trying to make this into a habit because this year one of my main goals is better mental health and this helps me unwind and get rid of all the nasty thoughts in my head to stop myself from the perpetual cycle of negative thoughts. I also use it as a gratitude journal to hopefully help with my optimism.

How’d I do? Not too bad. I’ve journaled on average 5 times in a week but for this month I aim to do better.

Bedtime yoga for at least 5x a week: Just 10 minutes because it helps me stop the stiffness after a whole day at work and it works better than sleeping pills for me.

How’d I do? Bad lol. I only did it a total of 3 times during the whole month. I absolutely loved it though, it’s just hard to gain the momentum to start doing it. Maybe this month I will try again. We’ll see if I don’t have enough on my plates already.

This is my wrap-up for this month! I did have quite a lot of things I enjoyed and did (or tried to anyway, lol) and it’s pretty cool. I have to work on doing better this month because small steps forward is the key. How about you guys? How was January for you? Anything cool happen? If you have wrap-ups posted up, please leave a link down below so I can check it out!

Lots of love,

Loved the post! Wow, you sure read a lot of books!! Makes me want to up my game, haha! I’m so glad I ran into your blog, we seem to have so much in common! I absolutely adore K-Pop and K-Dramas too! It’s nice to find fellow fans in the bookish community, haha. 💕 I noticed you’ve read ACOTAR and are moving on with the series- that book series has to be one of my faves, I’ve loved it so much! Do you have some more in depth thoughts on them or a review I could check out somewhere? Loved the post, thanks for writing it 💛

You read a lot of interesting looking graphic novels in Jan. And yay, a fellow Saga fan! Vol. 6 wasn’t really my fave though, to be honest. ACOTAR is a series I plan to start reading this year too. That’s awesome that you started journaling! I used to do that but haven’t in a while. And maybe next month you’ll do more of the yoga 🙂
