In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.
Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who’s only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.
When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a higher price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.
This is the third book in the Lunar Chronicles and this is so far my most favourite one. There’s only one more book left before I’m done so yaaaay! This is a retelling of Rapunzel and Cress, is absolutely adorable. I would say she reminds me more of Rapunzel from Tangled with her shyness and her huge imagination and childlike fascination over everything. It’s super cute the way her character was written and the love line gave me butterflies, it’s just.. *sigh* you have got to read it.
The story progression from the first book to this one is still pretty solid and it’s still keeping me interested and curious how it’s gonna end. Crossing my fingers all loose ends gets tied up in a pretty bow and the ending isn’t disappointing. The sci-fi aspect of this is still not too overwhelming and is actually pretty logical which is a good thing for me because too much sci-fi on any book turns me off from reading. I read this book pretty fast (about ~6 hours?) which has been pretty rare from me the past few years. Maybe I’m finding my groove again after losing interest in reading and that is super exciting.
Anyways, I want to write a lot more about the story but I’m trying not to spoil anything so I’ll just let you guys have your take on it. I personally really enjoyed this though and I hope you guys will as well. I don’t know when I’m gonna finish this series just because I kinda feel burnt out on this series for now. Maybe I’ll read a couple of books in between then get right back on it. Stay tuned for the last book review though and happy reading!
